I wanted to sign Sarkodie – Patoranking

Award-winning Nigerian Dancehall artiste, Patoranking claims he wanted to sign Ghanaian artiste Sarkodie years ago.

He told Sammy Forson and Berla Mundi during an interview on drive time show, Route919 on Live FM, he’s been following the ‘Mewu’ rapper’s exploits for sometime.

“I wanted to sign Sarkodie for 6 months. I wanted us to do an inter-state tour in Nigeria.”

He added that listening to Sarkodie spits bars on Edem’s ‘You Dey Craze’ made him a fan. It is believed that the 2011 street anthem is one of the songs that catapulted Sarkodie into mainstream appreciation.

Patoranking, who is a descent of Ebonyi, started his musical career doing underground collaborations with artists such as XProject, Konga, Slam and Reggie Rockstone.

He signed a record deal with K-Solo’s Igberaga Records in 2010, releasing “Up in D Club” under the outfit. Patoranking became a protégé of Dem Mama Records after collaborating with Timaya on his song “Alubarika”.

In February 2014, he signed a record deal with Foston Musik and released “Girlie O”, a single that put him in the limelight.

On 9 February 2015, Patoranking announced via Instagram that he signed a distribution deal with VP Records.
